Frequently asked questions
What size does the collage export at?
Square layouts export at 1080×1080 and the 4:5 portrait layout at 1080×1350. Those are Instagram's real feed dimensions — 1080px wide is the largest the feed serves, and 4:5 is the tallest ratio it accepts without cropping.
What happens if I add fewer photos than the layout has cells?
The spare cells are simply left as background colour, so you can preview a layout before you have all the photos. Extra photos beyond the number of cells are kept in the list but not drawn — swap one forward to bring it into the collage.
Are my photos cropped?
Each photo is scaled to cover its cell and centre-cropped, so it fills the box without being stretched or distorted. If an important detail sits near an edge, crop the photo the way you want it before adding it.
How do I change the order of the photos?
Every thumbnail has a swap button that exchanges it with the next photo. Repeat it to walk a photo along to any position. Buttons rather than drag-and-drop, so it works with a keyboard and on touch screens.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The collage is drawn on a canvas inside your browser and the PNG is generated there too. No photo leaves your device, nothing is stored, and no account is required.
