LinkedIn Username Checker — Free Tool
Look up a LinkedIn username without being told a guess. LinkedIn answers automated requests with a bot-block status that cannot be told apart from its not-found page, so instead of inventing a verdict this page gives you the direct link to that profile URL, and checks the platforms that can be read live in the same run.
Letters, numbers, dots, underscores and hyphens, up to 30 characters. Leave the @ off — we strip it anyway.
Features
- A direct link to the LinkedIn profile URL for the name you typed, so you read LinkedIn's own page instead of our guess
- Honest about the limit: LinkedIn answers automated requests with a bot-block status that cannot be told apart from its not-found page
- LinkedIn username rules on the page, so you do not shortlist a name the platform will reject: between 3 and 100 characters, letters and numbers only
- Bluesky, YouTube, X, Snapchat and Mastodon are genuinely checked live in the same run, so the check is not wasted
- No sign-up, no account, and no confident verdict where there is no signal to read
Frequently asked questions
Why will this not tell me whether the LinkedIn name is free?
Because LinkedIn answers automated requests with a bot-block status that cannot be told apart from its not-found page. There is nothing in that response to read, so any tool that shows you a confident verdict for LinkedIn is guessing, and a guess is exactly what you cannot afford when you are naming a brand. What this page does instead is build the exact LinkedIn profile URL for the name you typed and hand you the link, so you can look at the real page in one click.
Does no public profile mean the LinkedIn username is definitely free?
No, and that is why this tool never prints the word available. A name with no profile on it can still be reserved by LinkedIn, held back for a trademark owner, blocked by a banned-words list, attached to a suspended or deactivated account, or outside the length and character rules. It can also be registered by somebody else a minute after you look. Treat it as a strong hint worth pursuing, then confirm on the LinkedIn signup form before you commit.
What are the LinkedIn username rules?
A LinkedIn username is between 3 and 100 characters, letters and numbers only. Names that break those rules are refused at signup no matter how free they look, which is why a shortlist is worth filtering against them before you check anything. Our AI username generator applies the same rules when it suggests names.
Which platforms are checked live?
Bluesky, YouTube, X, Snapchat and Mastodon. A platform earns a live check only when a missing profile produces a response we can actually tell apart from a present one, measured against the real platform. The other nine, including the ones behind sign-in walls and bot blocks, are link-outs. If a live platform starts blocking us it degrades to couldn't check on its own.
I need LinkedIn name ideas, not just a check.
Pair this with the BulkPublish AI username generator: generate a shortlist there, run the names you like through this checker, and confirm the survivors on the LinkedIn signup form. Once the name is yours, BulkPublish schedules and publishes to LinkedIn and thirteen other platforms from one place.
