Why is my Facebook engagement rate so low?
Because organic Page reach is a small fraction of followers, so a follower denominator divides your engagement by a number most of whom never saw the post. Rates below 1% are completely normal on Facebook and would be alarming on TikTok. That is a property of the denominator, not of your content.
What is a good Facebook engagement rate?
Against followers, published Page benchmarks commonly land between 0.1% and 1.5%. Published benchmarks disagree with each other because they use different denominators and different samples, so treat any single figure you read as one methodology's answer, not the answer. Compare yourself against your own past posts before comparing against anyone else.
Should I use reach instead of followers?
You can, and it produces a much larger number that is useful for judging whether a post landed with the people who saw it. It is not comparable to published benchmarks, which use followers. Whichever you use, state it when you quote the figure.
