Why these work without rich text
These aren't fonts. Each style is a set of real Unicode characters that already look bold or italic, so the styling travels with the text itself. That's why it survives a paste into an Instagram bio or an X post, neither of which supports formatting — the platform sees ordinary characters.
The trade-off is accessibility: screen readers announce these characters individually or skip them, and they aren't matched by search. Use them for emphasis on a word or two, not for a whole caption.
