Frequently asked questions

How is social media ROI calculated?

The core formula is ((revenue − investment) ÷ investment) × 100. This tool builds investment from team hours × hourly rate plus tool and ad spend, and revenue from conversions × average order value. A result of 100% means you earned back double what you put in.

What is earned media value, and why is it shown separately?

Earned media value estimates what your organic reach would have cost to buy as advertising: (impressions ÷ 1,000) × a comparable CPM. It is a useful proxy for the value of reach, but it is not cash in the bank, so it is never mixed into the revenue ROI figure — it is reported on its own line.

What CPM should I use?

Use the CPM you actually pay on that platform if you run ads. If you do not, a rate somewhere between $5 and $15 is a reasonable general benchmark for most consumer social platforms, with B2B platforms like LinkedIn typically running higher.

Do I need to fill in every field?

No. Investment alone gives you a cost picture, adding conversions and average order value produces the ROI percentage, and adding impressions and CPM produces earned media value. Each result appears as soon as it has the numbers it needs.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Every calculation happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or logged, and no account is required.
