How to Schedule YouTube Videos (2026)

YouTube schedules from the upload flow itself. Here is how it works, what the Premiere option adds, and when to publish the announcement elsewhere too.

YouTube scheduling isn’t a separate feature. It’s part of the upload, which makes it one of the simpler ones to use.

How native scheduling works

Note: This comes from YouTube’s own help documentation on upload visibility settings, checked on 29 August 2026.

During upload you set visibility. Instead of Public, Unlisted or Private, choose Schedule and pick a publish date. The video stays private until then and publishes itself.

You can also set it up as a Premiere, which gives the video a countdown page and a live chat when it goes live. That turns a publish into an event, and it’s worth using for anything you’d want an audience to gather for.

What YouTube accepts

Through BulkPublish:

Description length5,000 characters
Post typesVideo, Short
VideoUp to 128 GB, MP4, MOV, AVI, FLV or WebM

The format list is the broadest of any platform here, and the file size ceiling is enormous, which reflects YouTube being a video host rather than a social network that accepts video.

Descriptions are worth the effort

5,000 characters, and most of it goes unused on most channels.

The description is doing two jobs: telling a viewer what the video is, and being the text YouTube has to understand what the video is about. A one-line description does neither well.

The useful shape is a real paragraph up top, then whatever links, timestamps and credits belong underneath.

Where scheduling gets awkward

YouTube Studio schedules YouTube. The problem is that a video launch is rarely a YouTube-only event.

When a video goes live you usually also want a post on X, something on LinkedIn if it’s professional, a Short or a Reel cut from it, and maybe a note in a Discord community. Those are five things timed around one moment, and doing them by hand means being at a computer when the video publishes.

Scheduling them together is the actual win. The video goes live at 10am, the announcement posts go out at 10am, and none of it needs you to be there.

Shorts

A Short uploads like any other video and is treated as one by the scheduling flow. The difference is what happens after, and where else the file goes: the same vertical video usually belongs on TikTok and Instagram Reels too.

Scheduling YouTube alongside everything else

BulkPublish publishes to YouTube and 14 other networks: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, Mastodon, Discord, Telegram, Tumblr and Snapchat.

  • Channels: Free: 3 (1 per platform). Pro: 30 (2 per platform). Business: 75 (5 per platform).
  • Posts: Free: 3/day. Pro: 30/day. Business: unlimited.
  • Storage: Free: 100 MB. Pro: 2 GB. Business: 10 GB.

Storage is the number that matters for video. YouTube itself accepts files up to 128 GB, which is far beyond what any plan’s media library holds, so large source files are worth uploading to YouTube directly and scheduling the surrounding announcements from one place.

The short version

YouTube schedules from the upload flow: pick Schedule instead of Public, and optionally make it a Premiere. The part worth automating isn’t the video, it’s everything timed around it, so the announcements and the cut-down Shorts go out with it rather than whenever you remember.
