A savage caption is a one-liner with a target, and the target should never be named. The moment you name someone it stops being savage and starts being a fight in the comments. Keep it general and let the right person recognize themselves.

How to pick one
Pick the line that fits what the photo is already doing. A savage caption under a photo that looks upset reads as bitter; the same line under a photo where you look completely fine reads as savage. That contrast is the whole trick. Front-load the strongest word, cut anything that explains the joke, and never add a “just saying” at the end because it undoes the line. Do not ask a question unless you genuinely want to argue in the replies. If you are unsure whether a line crosses from sharp into cruel, read it as if you were the target.
