How to pick one
Match the caption to the moment, not the milestone. If the photo already shows a first birthday cake covered in a child, the caption should not say happy first birthday, it should say what happened just after the photo. Front-load the specific detail, because “first word was not mum, it was the dog” is a whole story in nine words. Keep one honest line per post rather than a paragraph of gratitude, since the honest one gets read and the paragraph gets folded. Decide your privacy line and stick to it: no school names, no home locations, no full birth dates.
