Instagram is the platform where batching helps most, because every post needs media and gathering media is the slow part. Doing that once for twenty posts is a completely different job from doing it twenty times.
Media is the constraint, not the writing
Every Instagram format requires media. So a batch is really a media workflow with captions attached, and the two limits that decide whether it goes smoothly are:

The 8 MB per-image cap is the one that bites in bulk. A photo straight off a modern phone can exceed it, and in a batch of thirty images that’s thirty chances to hit it.
Resize the whole set before you start rather than fixing them one at a time after rejections. Both limits are validated before a post is queued, so you get a clear error, but fixing them in advance is faster than fixing them individually.
The workflow
1. Gather and resize the media first. Everything under 8 MB per image. This is the step that makes the rest fast.
2. Write the captions in one pass, wherever you write. Not in the composer, and not one at a time interleaved with uploading.
3. Import or paste them in. BulkPublish’s bulk composer at /compose/bulk takes a CSV with a content column, plus optional scheduled_at and media_urls. If you’ve planned in a spreadsheet, that’s the shape you already have.
4. Set the format per post. Feed photo, Reel, carousel. This is per-post and worth doing deliberately.
5. Set times, either a cadence across the batch or per post.
6. Read the batch as a set before queueing.
Step six is the one people skip
A month of Instagram posts written together should look like a month of Instagram posts. Reading the queue in order catches things that are invisible per post:
- Three similar images in a row
- A week with nothing, then five posts in two days
- Two captions making the same point
- Something referencing a date that will have passed
Carousels are worth batching specifically
Carousels take longer to assemble than single posts, which means they rarely happen spontaneously. In a batch, where you already have the images gathered, they’re often the easiest post to make.
Up to 10 images each, at 8 MB apiece. Put the strongest image first, because it decides whether anyone swipes, and you can’t reorder after publishing.
Cross-post the Reels while you’re there
Any Reel in the batch is the same file TikTok and YouTube Shorts want. Selecting those channels while composing costs nothing and saves the whole batch being done twice.

Storage is the limit that decides how large a batch you can hold, especially with video. Your daily posting limit is checked across the whole batch before anything is queued, so a batch that would exceed it tells you up front rather than publishing part of it.

Read the queue in order before publishing, because problems in a batch are visible as a set and invisible per post. And select TikTok and Shorts for any Reels while you’re already there.
