Yes, but not from Bluesky itself. The app is built for posting now, so scheduling comes from a tool that connects to it.
Because Bluesky runs on an open protocol, that connection is more straightforward than on platforms with gated publishing access.
What Bluesky allows
Note: These limits were verified against the AT Protocol lexicons, Bluesky’s own schema definitions, on 29 August 2026. Check the lexicons if precision matters.
| Post length | 300 characters |
| Images per post | Up to 4 |
| Threads | Supported |
| Alt text | No length limit in the protocol |
Through BulkPublish the media rules are up to 4 images at 10 MB each in JPG, PNG or WebP, and video up to 100 MB and 60 seconds in MP4.
The alt text point
The protocol sets no limit on alt text at all, and Bluesky’s community takes image descriptions seriously enough that posting without them draws polite correction.
That combination means there’s no argument for skipping it. Write the description.
Scheduling one
- Connect your Bluesky account
- Write within 300 characters
- Add images with alt text
- Pick a date and time and queue it
The character count is enforced as you type, per post in a thread, so nothing is truncated.
Threads as the answer to 300 characters
300 is tight, and threading is usually better than compressing an idea until it loses its shape.
The first post still has to work alone, because it’s the one people see. If it only makes sense as an introduction, most readers get nothing.
Writing once for four platforms
Bluesky sits in the middle of a group that takes near-identical content:
| Platform | Limit |
|---|---|
| X | 280 |
| Bluesky | 300 |
| Threads | 500 |
| Mastodon | 500 |
Write to 280 and one draft publishes to all four unchanged. Write to 500 and it needs trimming for two of them.
The exceptions are mentions, since a handle on one platform isn’t the same account on another, and replies, which only make sense where the conversation is.
Video is the tight one
100 MB and 60 seconds is the smallest video allowance in that group. X takes 512 MB and 140 seconds, Threads 500 MB. If a clip is going to several of these, cut to Bluesky’s limit or accept it won’t post there.
Plan limits
BulkPublish publishes to Bluesky and 14 other networks.
- Channels: Free: 3 (1 per platform). Pro: 30 (2 per platform). Business: 75 (5 per platform).
- Posts: Free: 3/day. Pro: 30/day. Business: unlimited.
Bluesky is available on the free plan, so you can schedule real posts to it without paying.
Short answer
Yes, through a third-party tool, since Bluesky has no native scheduler. 300 characters, 4 images, threads supported, and alt text with no length limit so there’s no reason not to write it. Write to 280 and the same post covers X, Threads and Mastodon too.
