Canva Content Planner is a scheduling feature inside Canva, not a social media tool that happens to have design in it. That distinction is the whole reason people look for an alternative: it publishes to Facebook Pages, Instagram Business accounts, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Tumblr, and each design can only be scheduled to one platform at a time. If your week involves Threads, Bluesky, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram Reels, Stories or carousels, the Content Planner has no path for any of it.
Here are seven alternatives, ordered from closest-to-Canva to furthest.
Note: Canva’s own site could not be reached when this post was written, so no Canva price is quoted here. The alternatives below were each verified against the vendor’s official pricing page as of September 2026. Plans and pricing may have changed since publication.
What Canva Content Planner can and cannot do
Worth being precise, because most write-ups on this are vague.
| Capability | Canva Content Planner |
|---|---|
| Networks | Facebook Pages, Instagram Business, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Slack, Tumblr |
| Threads, Bluesky, TikTok, YouTube | Not supported |
| Instagram Reels, Stories, carousels | Not supported |
| Cross-post one design to several networks | No, one platform per design |
| Available on the free plan | No, scheduling needs Canva Pro, Business, Education or Nonprofits |
| Analytics, inbox, approvals | None |
| Connected accounts | Up to 80 per team on paid plans, one per platform on Free |
Scheduling is not on the free plan, so the Content Planner is only ever a feature of a seat you are already paying for. If you bought Canva for design anyway, the planner is effectively free, which is exactly why so many teams start there and only later run into the ceiling. Check Canva’s own pricing page for the current per-seat rate, which changes by region and by plan.
1. A dedicated multi-platform scheduler
The straightforward fix. A publisher built for publishing covers the formats Canva does not: Reels, Stories, carousels, TikTok video, YouTube Shorts, Threads and Bluesky, plus real cross-posting where one piece of content goes to several networks with per-network captions.
The trade is that you now have two tools. You design in Canva, export, and upload. That is one extra step per post, and for many teams it is worth it the first time a Reel needs to go out on schedule.
- Best for: Anyone whose posting reaches past Meta and Pinterest
- Limitation: Design and scheduling live in different places
2. Later, if you are visual-first

Later is built around a drag-and-drop visual calendar and a media library, which is the closest thing in spirit to planning inside Canva. It covers Instagram, Facebook, X, Pinterest, TikTok and LinkedIn. If your objection to Canva is mostly “I need Reels and TikTok”, this is a short jump. See our Later alternatives roundup if you want the wider field.
- Best for: Instagram-led brands that plan by looking at a grid
- Limitation: No free plan
3. Planoly, for grid preview

Planoly keeps the visual-planning feel with a grid preview for Instagram and covers Pinterest, Facebook, X and TikTok. It has a free tier, which Canva’s scheduling does not. Our Planoly alternatives post has the detail.
- Best for: Creators who plan the look of their feed before the captions
- Limitation: Fewer networks than a general publisher
4. Plann, if you want a free tier

Plann publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube Shorts and Threads, and it handles Instagram posts, Stories, carousels and Reels, which is the specific gap that sends people away from Canva. There is a free forever plan with one brand, though it schedules Instagram only, and paid plans start at $15/mo, or $12.50/mo billed annually.
- Best for: Instagram-led creators who work from a phone
- Limitation: No X, Bluesky or Google Business Profile
Note: Pricing and features mentioned in this post were verified against Plann’s official site as of September 2026. Plans and pricing may have changed since publication.
5. Ocoya, if you want AI design plus scheduling

Ocoya is the closest thing to “Canva with a real scheduler”. It has AI copywriting and template-based design alongside publishing, starting at $15/mo on the Bronze plan with a 7-day trial. Its integrations page lists Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and Pinterest as generally available, with Threads, TikTok, Google Business Profile, YouTube Shorts, Discord, Telegram and Slack all marked beta.
- Best for: Small brands that want one tool for making and posting
- Limitation: A lot of the network list is still in beta, and there is no free plan
Note: Pricing and features mentioned in this post were verified against Ocoya’s official site as of September 2026. Plans and pricing may have changed since publication.
6. Meta Business Suite, if you only post to Facebook and Instagram
If the honest answer is that your presence is a Facebook Page and an Instagram account, Meta Business Suite is free, native, and better at Meta than any third-party tool, including Canva. It handles Reels and Stories that Canva cannot. The catch is structural: it covers Meta properties and nothing else, so it is a step sideways rather than forward unless Meta really is the whole plan.
- Best for: Businesses whose entire presence is Facebook and Instagram
- Limitation: No Threads, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube or Pinterest
7. Keep Canva, add a publisher
The option nobody sells you: keep designing in Canva and use it as an asset tool rather than a scheduler. Most publishers accept image and video uploads, and several integrate with Canva directly, so the export step is quick. You keep Canva’s templates and brand kit, and you get the formats and networks Canva’s planner does not reach.
Scheduling the formats Canva cannot
This is where BulkPublish fits. It publishes to 15 platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Bluesky, Threads, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, Mastodon, Discord, Telegram, Tumblr and Snapchat), including the Reels, Stories and carousel formats Canva’s planner has no path for, and one piece of content can go to several networks at once with a different caption per network. See scheduling and the calendar for how that works, or pricing for the plans.
Channels: Free: 3 (1 per platform). Pro: 30 (2 per platform). Business: 75 (5 per platform). Posts: Free: 3/day. Pro: 30/day. Business: unlimited. Storage: Free: 100 MB. Pro: 2 GB. Business: 10 GB.
If you want to sanity-check timing before you commit to a calendar, the free best time to post on Instagram tool is a reasonable starting point, and the social media holiday calendar covers the dates worth planning around.
The short version
Canva Content Planner is fine if you post images to Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn or Pinterest, one network at a time, and you already pay for Canva Pro. It stops being fine the moment you need Threads, Bluesky, TikTok, YouTube, Reels, Stories or carousels, because those are not supported at all rather than merely awkward. Most people do not need to leave Canva. They need to stop using it as their scheduler and keep using it as their design tool.
