LinkedIn has one of the better native schedulers, so this guide starts by telling you when you don’t need anything else.
LinkedIn’s own scheduler
Note: These details come from LinkedIn’s own help article on scheduling posts, checked on 29 August 2026. Check LinkedIn Help if the exact behaviour matters.
- How far ahead: 10 minutes to 3 months
- Formats: most post types, including text, images, video and documents
- Not supported: Events, Jobs and Services posts
- Time zone: times are standardised in UTC. On desktop that follows your device, on mobile it follows your current location
- Editing: you can modify or reschedule a queued post
Three months is generous, editing is allowed, and it’s free. If LinkedIn is where you publish and nowhere else matters much, use it.
The UTC behaviour is the one thing to watch. If you schedule from a laptop and then travel, check the time rather than assuming it moved with you.
What LinkedIn accepts
Through BulkPublish:
| Post length | 3,000 characters |
| Post types | Post, Gallery, PDF Carousel, Article |
| Images | Up to 20, 10 MB each, JPG, PNG or GIF |
| Video | Up to 500 MB and 30 minutes, MP4 |
The PDF Carousel is the format most accounts underuse. LinkedIn renders an uploaded PDF as a swipeable document, and it’s one of the few formats that gets people to stop and interact rather than scroll past.
The 30-minute video allowance is the longest of any platform in a normal cross-posting set, so LinkedIn can hold a full talk or demo that would need cutting anywhere else.
Writing for LinkedIn
3,000 characters is generous, and LinkedIn truncates in the feed after a short preview with a “see more”. So the opening line carries the post.
The register genuinely differs here. Text written for a short-form platform reads as thin on LinkedIn, and text written for LinkedIn reads as stiff everywhere else. If LinkedIn is one of several destinations, it’s the one most worth writing separately.
Scheduling one
- Connect your LinkedIn account
- Choose the format
- Write the post, within 3,000 characters
- Attach images, a video, or a PDF for a carousel
- Pick a date and time and queue it
Length and media are validated before the post is queued.
When a separate tool earns its place
LinkedIn’s scheduler is good, so the reasons to use something else aren’t about LinkedIn:
- You publish to other networks too, and want one calendar rather than one per platform
- You want per-platform text from one draft, since the LinkedIn version needs to differ from the rest
- You publish from your own systems, a CMS, an automation or an AI assistant
- Several people are involved and you want a review step and a record
BulkPublish publishes to LinkedIn and 14 other networks: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, Mastodon, Discord, Telegram, Tumblr and Snapchat.
- Channels: Free: 3 (1 per platform). Pro: 30 (2 per platform). Business: 75 (5 per platform).
- Posts: Free: 3/day. Pro: 30/day. Business: unlimited.
The short version
LinkedIn schedules natively from 10 minutes to 3 months, for most formats except Events, Jobs and Services, with times in UTC. That’s genuinely enough if LinkedIn is where you post. Use something else when you’re publishing elsewhere too, want per-platform text, or need more than one person involved.
