There are two ways to schedule TikTok, and which one you want depends almost entirely on whether TikTok is the only place your vertical video goes.
Option 1: TikTok’s own scheduler
Note: These limits come from TikTok’s own announcement of the video scheduler on the TikTok for Business blog, checked on 29 August 2026. Check TikTok’s current documentation if the exact window matters.
- How far ahead: 15 minutes to 10 days
- Where: the web upload page at tiktok.com, not the mobile app
- Account: a Business Account is required
- After scheduling: the video, caption and time can’t be edited. Fixing anything means deleting and re-uploading
Free, first-party, and fine if TikTok is your only platform and you work on a desktop.
The friction is real though. Most TikTok content is shot and edited on a phone, so scheduling means moving the finished file to a computer. And 10 days means topping the queue up every week and a half.
Option 2: a scheduler that covers the others too
The case for this is simple: vertical video rarely goes only to TikTok. The same file usually goes to Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, and doing that by hand means three uploads, three captions and three queues.
What TikTok accepts
Through BulkPublish:
| Caption length | 2,200 characters |
| Post types | Video, Photo Slideshow |
| Images | Up to 35, 20 MB each, JPG or WebP |
| Video | Up to 4 GB, MP4 or MOV |
Photo slideshows are the format most accounts forget TikTok has. Up to 35 images in one post, and they behave differently from video in the feed.
Scheduling one
- Connect your TikTok account
- Choose Video or Photo Slideshow
- Upload the media
- Write the caption
- Pick a date and time, further out than 10 days if you want, and queue it
Because the caption limit and media rules are checked in the composer, a file TikTok would reject is caught before it’s queued.
The vertical video workflow
This is where the time actually goes. One video, three destinations:
| Platform | Caption limit |
|---|---|
| TikTok | 2,200 |
| Instagram (Reel) | 2,200 |
| YouTube (Short) | 5,000 |
The file is the same. The captions should not be, because the audiences behave differently and the hashtag conventions differ. Writing three captions from one draft in one composer is a few minutes. Uploading the same file to three apps is not.
Snapchat is often the fourth destination for the same file, with the caveat that its caption limit is 160 characters, so that one needs writing rather than trimming.
Storage matters here
TikTok accepts video up to 4 GB, which is far more than a free plan’s media storage will hold.
- Storage: Free: 100 MB. Pro: 2 GB. Business: 10 GB.
- Channels: Free: 3 (1 per platform). Pro: 30 (2 per platform). Business: 75 (5 per platform).
- Posts: Free: 3/day. Pro: 30/day. Business: unlimited.
If you post video regularly, storage is the limit to size your plan against, not channel count.
The short version
TikTok’s native scheduler works: 15 minutes to 10 days, from the web, with a Business Account, and no edits after queueing. Use it if TikTok is your only platform. If the same vertical video also goes to Reels and Shorts, scheduling all three from one upload is the part actually worth automating.
