This is the standard business trio, and the one where identical text does the most damage, because the three audiences are further apart than the platforms make it look.
What each accepts
| Caption limit | 2,200 | 63,206 | 3,000 |
| Media required | Yes, always | No | No |
| Images | 10 per post | Supported | 20 per post |
| Video | 1 GB | 2 GB | 500 MB, 30 min |
The first structural thing to notice: Instagram requires media on every format. Facebook and LinkedIn are happy with text alone.
So a text-only announcement can go to two of the three. If you want all three, you need an image, and a hastily made graphic is usually worse than not posting to Instagram at all.
The three registers
Instagram wants the visual to carry it. The caption supports the image, the first line does the work, hashtags are normal.
Facebook sits in the middle. Conversational, links work directly in the post, hashtags mostly don’t help.
LinkedIn wants the reasoning. Same idea plus why it matters. Hashtag stacks read as spam here more than anywhere else in this group.
The tells that give away identical broadcasting across these three specifically:
- A hashtag block on the LinkedIn post
- “Link in bio” on Facebook or LinkedIn, where links work in the body
- A 280-character post on LinkedIn, which has room for ten times that
- A LinkedIn-length post on Instagram, where only the first line is read
What to change and what to keep
Keep the media and the underlying point. Change the length, the hashtags and the call to action.
A practical order: write the LinkedIn version first because it’s the fullest, cut the Facebook version from it, then write the Instagram caption to support the image rather than to summarise the post.
That’s one thinking step and three drafts, in one composer.
Use LinkedIn’s own formats
Cross-posting tends to flatten everything to plain text, and LinkedIn supports Posts, Galleries, PDF Carousels and Articles. The PDF Carousel is the one most worth remembering, because it gets people to stop.
If a post would genuinely be better as a carousel there, that’s a reason to break the trio for that piece rather than send all three the same flattened version.
The workflow
- Upload the media once
- Select Instagram, your Facebook Page and LinkedIn
- Write LinkedIn, cut Facebook from it, write Instagram for the image
- Strip hashtags from the LinkedIn version, put real links in the body for Facebook and LinkedIn
- Pick a time and queue it
Caption limits and media rules are checked per platform before queueing, so an Instagram post missing media is caught in the composer rather than failing at publish.
Plan limits
BulkPublish publishes to all three, plus 12 other networks.
- Channels: Free: 3 (1 per platform). Pro: 30 (2 per platform). Business: 75 (5 per platform).
- Posts: Free: 3/day. Pro: 30/day. Business: unlimited.
- Storage: Free: 100 MB. Pro: 2 GB. Business: 10 GB.
The free plan’s three channels covers exactly this trio, so the workflow can be tested properly before paying.
The short version
Instagram needs media, the other two don’t, so decide whether the post is visual before committing to all three. Write LinkedIn first and cut downward. Strip hashtags for LinkedIn, use real links on Facebook and LinkedIn, and write the Instagram caption for the image rather than as a summary.
