Hashtag Groups for Social Media in 2026 [Updated Guide]

Typing the same thirty hashtags under every post, and getting one of them wrong, is the kind of small chore that adds up over a month of posting. A hashtag group is that set saved once under a name, like a "Cute" group holding #love #cute #shy #beautiful, ready to drop into a post from the # button in the composer instead of retyped from memory.

Updated October 2026. The plan allowances and networks below are read from the app itself every time this site is built.

How hashtag groups work

You build a group once and add the whole set to a post in a single click. Editing a group only changes what gets added from then on: posts that already went out keep the hashtags they were given, and deleting a group later leaves every past post untouched too. A common way to use them is to keep the hashtags out of the caption entirely and let them go out in the automatic first comment instead, on the networks that allow one.

  1. Create a group and give it a name, like "Cute" or "Launch week".
  2. Add the hashtags that belong to it, in whatever order you want them to appear.
  3. In the composer, click the # button and add the whole group to the post in one click.
  4. Optionally send the group to the first comment instead of the caption, so the caption itself stays clean.

Networks this works on

This capability is not limited to a subset. It works the same way on all 15 networks BulkPublish publishes to, and each one has a guide of its own.

What each plan is allowed

Hashtag groups are on every plan with no allowance of their own: up to 100 groups per organization regardless of tier.

Working with AI agents

An assistant connected to BulkPublish can create, list, update and delete hashtag groups over the API, and add a saved group to a post the same way the # button does.

BulkPublish runs a hosted MCP server, so an AI assistant can do this work with you instead of you copying its answer into another tab. It exposes 20 tools over OAuth: an agent can see your channels, draft a post, put it in the queue, publish it and read the numbers back afterwards. Nothing to install, no API key to paste.

Tools worth connecting

BulkPublish already talks to these, and each one has a setup guide.

Free tools for this job

These run in your browser with no account, and they do one piece of this work on their own. Useful before you sign up, and still useful after.

Common questions

How many hashtag groups can I have?

Up to 100 per organization, on every plan. There is no separate plan allowance for hashtag groups.

Does editing a group change posts I already made?

No. Editing a group only affects hashtags added after the change; posts that already contain the group's hashtags are untouched.

What happens to old posts if I delete a group?

Nothing. Deleting a group leaves posts that already used it exactly as they are.

Should hashtags go in the caption or somewhere else?

Many people keep the caption clean and put the hashtag group in the automatic first comment instead, on networks that allow a first comment. Either way, each network's own caption length still applies, and BulkPublish checks the post against each network before it is queued.

Is there a free plan?

Yes, and it does not ask for a card. The table above shows what the free plan is allowed for this capability, and the pricing page lists the rest.

Can an AI assistant do this for me?

Yes. The hosted MCP server lets an assistant draft, schedule, publish and read your analytics over OAuth, with nothing to install and no key to paste.

Still stuck? The Help Center walks through it step by step.

The ones people usually need next come first.
