Social Media Post Templates in 2026 [Updated Guide]
Some posts have a shape you reuse: the product launch, the weekly tip, the event reminder. A template is that shape saved with a name, ready to start a new post from instead of writing it out again. It holds the words, not the rest of the post.
Updated October 2026. The plan allowances and networks below are read from the app itself every time this site is built.
How post templates work
A template is text only. It saves the caption you wrote, or a first-comment snippet, but not the media, the channels or any per-platform options, so starting from one still means picking those fresh each time. Names have to be unique within an organization, which is what keeps a long list of templates readable instead of three near-identical ones called Launch.
- Write a caption you will reuse, then save it as a named template instead of just this one post.
- Open the Templates button in the composer toolbar to start a new post from a saved template, or use the button beside the First Comment field for a first-comment snippet.
- Add media, pick the channels and set any per-platform options fresh, since none of those are saved with the template.
- Combine a template with a saved hashtag group when the post needs both the wording and the tags in one click.
Networks this works on
This capability is not limited to a subset. It works the same way on all 15 networks BulkPublish publishes to, and each one has a guide of its own.
What each plan is allowed
Templates carry no allowance of their own. Every plan gets the same cap: up to 200 caption templates and up to 200 first-comment snippets per organization.
Working with AI agents
An assistant can start a post from one of your saved templates and hand it back for you to add media and pick channels.
BulkPublish runs a hosted MCP server, so an AI assistant can do this work with you instead of you copying its answer into another tab. It exposes 20 tools over OAuth: an agent can see your channels, draft a post, put it in the queue, publish it and read the numbers back afterwards. Nothing to install, no API key to paste.
Tools worth connecting
BulkPublish already talks to these, and each one has a setup guide.
Free tools for this job
These run in your browser with no account, and they do one piece of this work on their own. Useful before you sign up, and still useful after.
Common questions
What can I save as a template?
Two kinds: caption templates, started from the Templates button in the composer toolbar, and first-comment snippets, inserted from a button beside the First Comment field.
Does a template save the media and channels too?
No. Templates are text only. Media, channels and per-platform options are not saved with a template, so you set those again each time you start from one.
How many templates can I save?
Up to 200 caption templates and up to 200 first-comment snippets per organization, and that cap is the same on every plan.
Who can create and use templates?
Anyone who can create posts in the organization. Viewers cannot create or use templates.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, and it does not ask for a card. The table above shows what the free plan is allowed for this capability, and the pricing page lists the rest.
Can an AI assistant do this for me?
Yes. The hosted MCP server lets an assistant draft, schedule, publish and read your analytics over OAuth, with nothing to install and no key to paste.
Still stuck? The Help Center walks through it step by step.
